Private and Alluring

Timber Hill offers all the comforts of home and then some….to allow precious time for friends, family and nature. Deep soft sofas… and cottony flannels to envelope you during the evening hours as you listen to the wildlife at your doorstep, or mountain rains on the rooftop, as the lake’s lapping waters lull you to sleep.

Soft Rustic Mountain hues and Adirondack accents propel you into cabin “fever”

The outdoors rushing in compels your attention………………………………………..

The next step is yours!
The lake, the woods, the hot tub, the screen porch, your room, the game room, the camp fire, the deck…so many decisions.

Enjoyment in Long Lake and the Adirondack Region

If it is fishing, water-skiing, kayaking or canoeing, Long Lake is one of the most coveted lakes in the Adirondacks! Winter activities include cross-country and downhill skiing, snow-shoeing and snowmobiling. Walk onto the lake and ice fish right out your back door.

Pike, the length of your arm….locals and visitors alike seem to know of the secret locations where this magnificent sport fish can be caught. Enjoy catch and release, as many now do, to afford these great fish to be caught again.

With a 14 mile length, boaters of all types have plenty of shoreline, coves and water to enjoy….Memorable…………the sighting of blue herons, eagles, loons and a variety of duck and geese, kayaking at sunset, ……skiing in the early morning or taking that ‘last run’ of the day on a flat lake surface, ……canoe for an overnight under the stars, in Caitlin Bay or on Blueberry Island.

If it is hiking you like, just walk out your door! Go south along the lake shore trail and you can make town in under 30 minutes… have breakfast or lunch, sit along the town beach, have a drink on the front porch of the Adirondack Hotel, or mosey around the shops.

Go north along the Northville-Lake Placid trail and enjoy the ever changing forest landscape from lightly forested to dense wetland. Within a ½ hour, Owl’s Head Mountain and Blue Mountain make more challenging daytime adventures.

Further afoot activities:
Under an hour’s drive away, there are the lovely mountain towns of Saranac Lake and Lake Placid. More commercial in nature, explore them during the day, then head back to the comfort of the ‘real’ wilderness at night. Along the way, visit Horseshoe Falls, or take your kayak or canoe and explore the Saranac region for an afternoon. Head south for a day of white water rafting in North River. Adirondack Rafting Outfitters (ARO) is highly recommended. The enchantment of the upper Hudson River gorge is truly an experience not to be missed. Just down the road along Rt. 30 is Buttermilk Falls. Picnic and enjoy the rubble of the falls or climb about and investigate the adjacent shoreline.

The Adirondack Museum, Tupper Lake’s Wild Center (opened July 2006), and the many small art galleries and shops make great afternoon diversions for learning more about the Adirondack region and its talented people.

Timber Hill is very centrally located for so many upstate NY excursions year round.
